Candle in the Air – exercise #62

Candle in the Air (exercise #62) SiRA Fly Yoga or Aerial Yoga.

Candle in the Air Fly Yoga exercise is part of the hammock exercises in Fly Yoga program.

Highlights:

• Sit in the hammock like a chair, with both feet on the ground and knees together
• The fabric of the hammock should be spread wide under your seat and across your lower back
• Grab the sides of the hammock with both hands
• Draw the knees towards the chest and lean back, tilting upside down
• Straighten the legs, point them straight to the ceiling and the arms hanging long
• Open the legs wide and press against the stripes
• Press the hips upward while pulling down the hammock
• Bring the legs together
• Hold whole body in a straight line for 3-5 breaths
• To return to standing, squeeze the thighs together to bring the feet together again
• Slowly bend the knees towards the chest and bend the arms to pull yourself upright
• Tip: Grip the hammock tightly through out

• Builds strength through the core and limbs
• A challenging inversion
• A fun upside down pose
