Star in Low Hammock – exercise #65

Candle in the Air (exercise #62) SiRA Fly Yoga or Aerial Yoga.

Candle in the Air Fly Yoga exercise is part of the hammock exercises in Fly Yoga program.

  • Shake and open the hammock
  • Sit in the hammock like a swing, with the cloth covering your seat from behind.
  • Hold the straps and lean back
  • Spread the legs wide with the knees slightly bent and wrap the legs around the straps of the hammock
  • Continue leaning back until the head and the upper back meet the mat
  • Keep the chin tucked towards the chest
  • Release the hands toward the floor
  • Hold the pose for a few moments and relax
  • Tell the kids to gently move their buttocks from side to side to feel safe and supported by the hammock
  • Flow: Bring the soles of the feet together in front of straps of the hammock
  • Wrap the legs around the straps of the hammock back
To Exit “Star”
  • Reach up with the hands to grab the straps of the hammock behind the knees
  • Unwrap the legs while still holding the straps tightly and bring the body back to a sitting position
  • Spend some time in ‘Child’s Pose’ #16 to settle the body and mind
  • Decompresses spine
  • Releases neck muscles
  • Lowers heart rate
